The Parliamentary Committee for control of Bulgaria’s National Security Agency DANS is going to investigate the revelations about backstage rulers and scenarios made Thursday by former secret agent Aleksei Petrov.

This was announced by the Committee Chair, Ivan Kostov, Thursday night after the end of Petrov’s hearing at the Committee.

After the meeting, Petrov claimed to have revealed names and secret information about a political model of circles eliminating opponents in Bulgaria over the recent years.

Before going in, he threatened to reveal the information to the public if the authorities failed to act upon it.

“We are going to decide whether to form a position on Petrov’s claims but we also have other ways of reacting. As citizens, we can dispute his allegations that everything at DANS was legal over the 1,5-year period we are investigating,” declared Kostov, who is also the Chair of the rightist DSB party, and the Co-Chair of the rightist Blue Coalition supporting the ruling party GERB of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

Kostov revealed that the top secret intelligence report of DANS which was published online by an unknown person in October 2009 was not exactly the secret report that Aleksei Petrov handed to Prime Minister Boyko Borisov several days years.

Kostov believes the report published online lacks a number of pages but said it was not the Committee’s job to deal with that, and that such an inspection must be done by the Prosecutor’s Office.

Regarding Petrov’s claims that he had revealed all the names of people involved in organized illegal activities that he knew, Kostov said he heard only three names but also remarked that we not present during the entire time of the hearing of the former DANS agent.

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
