Bulgarian authorities have reported two new swine flu deaths in the country, one of which has not been confirmed yet.
A 54-year-old man from the town of Opaka has died at the town of Targovishte. Another man – a 26-year-old – has passed away at the hospital in Razgrad in what is suspected to be yet another case of swine flu fatality.
Should the two deaths be confirmed, this would bring the swine flu tally in Bulgaria up to ten.
As the number of patients with A(H1N1) is steadily rising, Bulgaria's Health Ministry announced a national swine flu epidemics emergency, starting from Monday.
All schools in Bulgaria have been shut down and will be in a swine flu break November 9-16. Authorities have recommended limiting the number and scope of public events.
Any decisions for closing nursery schools and universities over the epidemic will be made on the local level.
There will be no mandatory closing of cinemas, theaters, libraries, or other public facilities despite the declaration of a national epidemic.
