Bulgaria Agriculture Minister, Miroslav Naydenov, has sent a signal to the Chief Prosecutor regarding an illegal permission given to the Association for Breeding of Bulgarian Rhodope cattle.

The Association received permission to carry out the selection and reproduction of the rare Rhodope from former Agriculture Minister Valeri Tsvetanov.

The permission granted the Association rights for the free use of state property. Naydenov stated that this is illegal as they do not fall within the scope of the Law on livestock as the Association is a business registered for private benefit.

His report also added that to obtain such permission requires an application to the Minister of Agriculture and Food, together with comprehensive documentation that is ‘missing’.

This allegation is the second against Tsvetanov, who was officially charged in September with malfeasance in office for illegal land swaps, one of the most widely spread corruption schemes during the previous Socialist-led government.
