Two players from Bulgarian champions FC Levski Sofia have been ordered to pay a fine of BGN 4000 each for causing ‘slight injury’ to Sofia cab driver Rumen Hristov.

Moroccan stars Youssef Rabeh and Rashid Tiberkanine, who is currently on loan in Dubai, were found guilty by Sofia District Court of causing slight bodily harm to Hristov. Along with the fines they were ordered to pay the costs of the court case – BGN 110.

The court heard that Hristov received numerous bruises after being attacked by the pair who started a fight with cab drivers in Central Sofia on November 3 2008 after a minor car accident.

Witnesses said that after the two cars bumped, Rabeh and the cab driver were involved in a brawl and after a few minutes more than twenty cabs arrived. Rabeh and Tiberkanine managed to get away and waited for the arrival of the police.

Only Hristov needed medical attention but was soon discharged from hospital. The players were not hurt.
