Police in the Italian city of Padua are tracking down the murderer of Albena Birdi, a 35 year-old Bulgarian citizen.

The woman’s body was found in an advanced stage of decay in a drainage channel in Padua on the morning of October 20.

A post-mortem examination of the body, conducted by Padua’s police forensic doctor revealed that the woman had died as a result of blows inflicted to the left side of her skull.

It is suspected that the Bulgarian woman’s killer had thrown her into the drainage channel while she was still alive, and that her corpse may have remained in the channel for almost a month.

For the moment, the police team investigating the crime is trying to identify the killer of the young woman by retracing the movements of the victim in the final hours of her life.

They have established that Birdi was staying at a hotel in the city. Only a few personal belongings were found in her room. They included a photo of a boy a few months old. It is supposed that he was a child of the victim, whom she had left behind in Bulgaria.

With the assistance of Interpol, the Italian police are trying to establish contact with Albena's family, so that the body may be returned home.

"Albena Birdi .. that sounds like Albanian name to me.."

Does that make her less valuable as a person? Does it excuse her murder? Such a comment is really outrageous.

By the way, I know hardly any first name that is more typical Bulgarian than Albena. It became popular after the publication of Jordan Jovkov's famous tale. But probably 'Bulgarians' from Serbia don't know much about Bulgarian culture.

"on the streets you stay alive by stereotypes..."

WOW, Uchack. With an attitude like that, how do you ever survive?

You survive by being "streetsmart" and apparently, you're not.

True. If there was no truth in stereotypes, they wouldn't be stereotypes, would they?

You have no comment on the Muslim psycho who killed a dozen American soldiers at Fort Hood? I hate to say it, but the stereotype of the crazed Muslim psycho applies here.

" Such a comment is really outrageous."

You are too easily "outraged". Don't get your knickers in a twist. What color are your knickers, by the way? Are they pink with lace on them? Just asking...

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
