The Communists Are Back!

Smiles | November 5, 2009, Thursday

A Bulgarian pensioner woke up one winter morning, some 15-20 years after 1989, and realized that it was warm in his apartment, the central heating was on, there was hot water, the fridge was full. He looked outside the window, and saw smog from industrial plants..

Old memories flooded his mind, he panicked, and starting crying out to his wife in a horrified voice:

"They are back! The communists have come back in power!"

They have never been away.
They were once extracted in 1997 when Mr. Kostov came to power. The nicest 4 years yet.

Well at least Boyko enjoy much higher popularity than Kostov. This may prove healthier for Bulgaria as Borisov will make sure the red crooks are gone forever. Stanishev should be sent to jail.

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
