The Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic has ruled that the EU’s Lisbon Treaty is compatible with the country’s Constitution.
Thus, it has removed one of the very last legal obstacles before the ratification of the Treaty, which is yet to be signed by eurosceptic President Vaclav Klaus.
"On the whole, the Lisbon Treaty is not in contradiction with the Czech Constitution," said Pavel Rychetsy, Chair of the Court.
President Klaus is expected to sign the Lisbon Treaty ratification act as he has stated he would once there is a positive ruling by the Court.
