Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov was Blackburn's tormentor on Saturday, but Rovers boss Sam Allardyce believes the striker faces a make-or-break season at Manchester United to prove himself worthy of his GBP 30.75 M transfer fee.

"I think Berbatov's found it a little difficult to produce his very, very best, as he showed at Tottenham after a season. This one is a big season for him. Playing for United is not an easy thing to do. There is a massive pressure and every game you have to win,“ Allardyce said.

"There's no hiding here, there's no easy games and there's no doing anything other than producing your best and winning games of football.

The Blackburn Rovers boss thinks Dimitar Berbatov is suffering from a mental block at Manchester United.

"I think perhaps he's found, as many other players have in the past, it a little difficult to adjust to because of the pressures.

"But in this game he scored a great goal to get them on their way. He's got really outstanding ability and as this season goes on you'll find out if he's good enough - he certainly was today."

"Dimitar has a laid-back look but he's far from laid-back. When you ask our lads who have to chase him, they'll tell you it's far from easy."

Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov has been showered with praises from all sides for his second-half volley that helped to set up a stuttering Manchester United win over Blackburn on Saturday.

He was involved in a flurry of goalmouth activity in the first 45 minutes of the match but just didn’t have his wits about him to get Manchester United the breakthrough they deserved.

United's new look defence had few problems and after being twice denied early on, Berbatov flicked up Patrice Evra's skewed shot to score the opener in the 55th minute, the kind of goal which only a hitman of his class could convert from nothing.

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
