Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Borisov Borisov, has revealed he had stopped playing any sports and meeting with close friends since he assumed office in July 2009.
In a Monday’s interview for the Standart Daily, Borisov, who is known for being active in sports such as soccer and tennis, said he even stopped playing cards with friends.
“I have said it several times: I have no friends after I became Prime Minister. I am not going to be meeting with my friends in order not to harm them. I have even stopped seeing my closest friends in Bankya” (the Sofia suburb where Borisov lives – editor’s note), the Prime Minister states.
Borisov also mentions that the ethnic Turkish party DPS (Movement for Rights and Freedoms) is the greatest adversary of his right-wing party GERB. In his words, the DPS is “preparing to strike” concentrating on ethnic issues. He defines the DPS leader Ahmed Dogan as “the most inconvenient opponent in politics”.
According to the Prime Minister, the three minor right-wing parties supporting his government – the RZS, the Blue Coalition, and Ataka – are in a very delicate situation since they do need to support the rightist government in power, but this also threatens their own identities as they are not technically in power.
Borisov points out that he is horrified about the coming winter especially since the Stanishev government left behind a BGN 132 M debt for snow cleaning services performed last winter.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister also declares he is going to meet any social protests by showing the protesters the actual condition of the state finances that he inherited from the former government.
