Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov has been showered with praises from all sides for his second-half volley that helped to set up a stuttering Manchester United win over Blackburn on Saturday.
"Berbatov has scored a fantastic goal," Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson commented.
“The quality of Berbatov's flick and volley into the bottom corner was great from their point of view," said Blackburn coach Sam Allardyce.
Berbatov was involved in a flurry of goalmouth activity in the first 45 minutes of the match but just didn’t have his wits about him to get Manchester United the breakthrough they deserved.
United's new look defence had few problems and after being twice denied early on, Berbatov flicked up Patrice Evra's skewed shot to score the opener in the 55th minute, the kind of goal which only a hitman of his class could convert from nothing.
Wayne Rooney doubled the lead after 87 minutes, cracking in an Anderson cross with an exquisite half-volley.
