The Interior Ministry received a false anonymous signal that the kidnapped son of Bulgarian businessman, Rumen Guninski, was in an abandoned house in the ‘Kiliite’ villa zone near Sofia on Tuesday

The police arrived at the site but discovered nothing; Rumen Guninski also stated that his son was still missing.

Bulgaria PM Boyko Borisov stated the investigation is still in full swing and said that he had received no information suggesting Guninski Jr. had been found.

Earlier Tuesday it was reported that Guninski received a mobile telephone text message demanding EUR 500 000 for the release of his kidnapped son.

Guninski, a wealthy businessman from the town of Pravetz, has also been allegedly given three weeks by the kidnappers to gather together the money.

Rumen Gunenski Jr. was kidnapped in public in Sofia on October 19, 2009. On Monday the Bulgarian police found the van with which 22-year-old student had been kidnapped.

The van was found in the outskirts of Sofia. The police investigation showed that it had been stolen earlier in the Bulgarian capital.

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
