Aleksei Petrov, an ex secret service agent at the Bulgarian State National Security Agency (DANS), has stated that he has “no worries” on entering the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office for questioning.

“I have no worries and concerns,” Petrov said Tuesday. Petrov was speaking after a controversial top secret intelligence report from DANS was published online Monday night.

Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has initiated pre-trial proceedings to determine who had access to the report, what was exported and whether it is authentic.

Bulgaria's PM Borisov said he was given the report by former secret agent Petrov who gave it to him on Friday, October 23, 2009.

On Saturday, Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, accused his predecessor Sergey Stanishev of concealing the DANS report from October 2008, which allegedly incriminated top officials with corruption.

Meanwhile, the former chief of the Directorate of Counterintelligence at the State National Security Agency (DANS), Rashko Zayakov, has stated that there is a report on corrupt Ministers in the last Bulgarian government.

Zayakov stated Tuesday that “there is a report on corrupt ministers. I am not personally involved in its writing,” bTV reported. He added that 15 of the Ministers in former PM Sergey Stanishev’s cabinet were included in the report and that “for there to have been an investigation into a Minister there must have been serious evidence of corruption.”

Regarding the published report Zayakov stated that it was created by the ‘Drashkov’ circle within DANS, led by former DANS Deputy Director Ivan Drashkov, to compromise his opponents within the agency.

He added that it was sad that such a report had been published as it leaves the country open to the many foreign intelligence services working in the country.

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
