The Bulgarian economy is going to improve substantially in 2010 overcoming the economic crisis effects thanks to the recovery in Germany and Western Europe in general.

This is the opinion of the Deputy Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, Dimitar Kostov, as cited by the economy newspaper Pari Daily.

Kostov believes that Bulgaria’s manufacturing and exports are going to stabilize as a result a result of the economic recovery in Germany, which is Bulgaria’s largest trading partner.

The BNB Deputy Governor has pointed out that the economic forecasts of the International Monetary Fund and the European Commission for Bulgaria were very pessimistic. The Bulgarian central bank forecasts that the country’s GDP will grow by 0,5% in 2010.

The IMF forecast is that the Bulgarian economy will shrink by 6,5% in 2009, and by 2,5% in 2010. Bulgaria’s Finance Ministry expects a decline of 6,3% in 2009, and 2% in 2010.

Wait and see when that recovery is going to come!!! Bulgaria has waited for more then one century for a German recovery and has gotten always.... nothing. Like the still missing payments to Bulgarian suppliers from 1939 to 1944... who haven't seen nothing yet. ONly nice talks and promises....

Germany is still paying reparations to the Jews. When the Jews have all been reparated, then maybe the Bulgarians will get their chance. Don't hold your breath. It is not going to happen in our life time.

The economy of Bulgaria and the entire EU economy will be improving and growing before the end of THIS YEAR!

It is a good thing that Germany (the largest economy in the EU) is the largest trading partner of Bulgaria BUT Bulgaria should not ignore the fact that it has multiple choices of conveniently located powerful and rapidly growing economies.
EU as a whole has the largest economy in the world.
Germany on its own has the 6th largest economy.
The Russians now have the 7th largest economy.
China has the 3rd largest economy and India follows with number 5.

Basically 80% of the world population and 70% of the world’s money is located in EURASIA. So the choice, diversity and capabilities are immense!

A house where I live doubles every 10 years. This house was $75,000 in 1979. It is 30 years later, so the house has doubled in price 3 times. Do the math.

Buddy,

you are writing such a nonsense. Did you already forgot who is the biggest (not only) financial supporter of Bulgaria after the political changes? The German taxpayer, directly via many projects financed by Germany as a grant and via the EU budget.

I could prove you the same for the periods before, since Bulgaria has become independent, but it is probable that you are not interested in facts. People like you never are.

"Germany is still paying reparations to the Jews"

Contrary to the popular belief, Germany has never paid reparations to the 'Jews'. When the quoted statement means that Germany paid reparations to Israel, thats another story. But even here it has to be said that these payments were no reparations. Germany paid considerable sums to Israel as a kind of 'Wiedergutmachung' because Israel is the home of most of the surviving Jews. .

Reparations are imposed on the basis of a peace treaty between parties involved in a war. Israel was not existing during the Second World War and can therefore not being part in such an agreement. And there was until today also no peace treaty between the Four Powers and Germany. It is therefore complete nonsense to speak about 'reparations' in this context.

I should add two more things: also the Jews living in other countries outside Israel had the opportunity to get financial support from Germany, only the Eastern European Jews didn't have this chance, because their governments in the time of communism didn't allow these payments. In the last years also these people could get finally some financial support and also the fact that they are finally recognisezed as victims offically helps them morally.

Moreover people should know that when I speak about Germany here, it means always Western Germany. Eastern Germany always denied any moral responsibility and didn't pay anything. According to their ideology, all good people and victims lived in Eastern Germany, whereas in the West only fascists were living who were the ones who were responsible. Also Austria, the homeland of many of the worst Nazi criminals (including Hitler, Eichmann and others) always rejected its responsibility and keeps the lie alive that they were 'the first victims', denying the frantic support of 90% of the population to the Nazi regime and its crimes.

Germany got shafted, dude! First, it got high jacked by that idiot Hitler, then it got shafted by the communists, and now it is getting it up the arse from theTurkish and the EU. At least the Brits are showing signs of life and rebelling. Not a peep is getting out of Germany. They just love getting shafted.

Do you work for a German or Bulgarian firm? Or is your wifey keeping you? I can't help noticing that you are only here during business hours. Are you multi-tasking on the job? Or is it because you don't have a computer at home?

Ages ago I was promised that you send an email to my boss - when I answered that I am waiting impatiently for your email, you kept quiet....still waiting, LOL

Or didn't you understand until now that I am not working for someone's firm, cockroach? And I define my business hours by myself, stupid.

Buddy,

are you referring your insults to me? If so, please note that I mentioned just a few facts which prove that your initial statement was ridiculous.

Ok, I see you are not able to argue and bring your facts or arguments on the table, so you have to come up with some insulting remarks. Someone who calls me like you do just because I have another opinion based on the facts disqualifies himself for further discussion, you little prick. Go and get you some clean diapers and then leave us alone here with your diarrhea.

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
