Bulgaria police uncovered a criminal group involved in the illegal trade of weapons, the Interior Ministry reports Saturday.

Five people, 50 to 60 years of age, have been arrested. The raid has been planned by the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office under the program to restrict possibilities of illegal gun ownership.

The group dealt with the illegal trade of hunting and combat weapons. The police raided Friday four addresses around the town of Samokov and in the town of Dupnitsa.

The shop in Samkov has been used for illegal assembly of weapons. The authorities discovered a grenade, an automatic World War II gun, a “Kalashnikov,” a carbine, seven handguns, four rifles, bullets, tools used for gun manufacturing.

In addition to arms, in Dupnitsa the police found 13 500 in fake EUR bills and many items with historical value such as an antique statue, traditional Bulgarian jewelry along with car audio systems and cell phones
