Hollywood star Andy Garcia has arrived in Tbilisi late Sunday night for the scenes of a movie on the Russia-Georgia war from August 2008.
Garcia will be starring in the Renny Harlin film, and will play Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, The Daily Georgian Times reported.
In Tbilisi, the Cuban-American actor is going to shoot scenes in the Presidential Residence covering the period when the leaders of five European states visited Georgia in order to broker a deal to stop the crisis over the breakaway South Ossetia province.
Director Renny Harlin announced in August 2009 that we wanted to make a serious movie about the Russia-Georgia conflict.
The plot of the movie features an American journalist and a cameraman who get caught in the fighting. The film is said to have a strong anti-war message.
Georgian media have questioned its neutrality since one of the producers, Papuna Davitaya, is a Member of the Georgian Parliament supporting President Mikhail Saakashvili.
The legendary Serbian director, Emir Kosturica, is also set to make a movie on the Russia-Georgia war but from the point of view of South Ossetia. Kosturica has already visited the breakaway republic earlier in October.
