Spaska Mitrova, the Macedonian, who became a Bulgarian citizen at the beginning of 2009 and has since gone through a number of hardships, including jailing, has said she is afraid of going back to Macedonia.

“I am afraid of Macedonia. It is a police state. Everything can befall those, who are against the authorities or consider themselves Bulgarians. Look what has happened to me,” Mitrova told local 24 Hours daily shortly after she stepped on Bulgarian soil on Friday.

Mitrova was released Thursday from the jail in Skopje where she served over two months of her controversial three-month sentence.

Talking about her arrest and the time she spent at the police headquarters, Mitrova said she has been treated with brutality.

“The police surrounded my house and rushed inside as if I were some kind of a terrorist and not a helpless mother. They pushed me down the stairs and dragged me out by pulling my hair. The worst thing is that they took my daughter.”

Mitrova still does not know where her daughter is, nor why she has been arrested and sentenced to jail.

Mitrova became a Bulgarian citizen at the beginning of 2009, and according to many Bulgarian politicians and public figures such as MEP Evgeni Kirilov, it was exactly this fact that led to the excessive and unfounded punishment that she received, and to the brutality with which she was treated.

The young woman was jailed on July 30 allegedly for refusing to take her baby daughter to a social care home to see her father.

As I have stated before. This country should be isolated and dissolved.

"The young woman was jailed on July 30 allegedly for refusing to take her baby daughter to a social care home to see her father."

This is a family dispute. Let's not turn it into a federal case, let's not make a mountain out of a mole hill. It has NOTHING to do with her taking on Bulgarian citizenship. She did that because she is an opportunist who wants to exploit the social safety net of the EU. If Macedonia was in the EU, she would not have taken on Bulgarian citizenship. She broke her contractual agreement by refusing the father of her child access. And then she has the nerve to complain. What an arrogant Bulgarian slut.

She took the Bulgarian citizenship because it was offered to her. She is the founder of the Bulgarian Club "Ratko" in Skopje, FRIOM. Several times before members of this club were attacked during their meetings.

Declaring as a Bulgarian in FRIOM results in jail or if lucky - deportation. Why is this the case, when FIROMians speak almost similar language as Bulgarians, share the identical folkore and historically have been always on the same side?

Wouldn't being a Bulgarian in FYROM be something like being an German in Austria? Nope. Being an Bulgarian in FIROM is obviously considered as being against the state of FYROM.

Why would be one, obviously self-aware Bulgarian be forced to declare himself as a FIROMian? This country doesn't even have a NAME, let alone history or folklore. It is isolated by most of it's neighbors except Serbia.

FIROM was the sh*thole of former Yugoslavia because it was Serbia's little dirty secret.

Romania should have condemned such human rights abuse committed by the Macedonians towards the Bulgarian/Macedonian Citizen.

She will be safe in Bulgaria, Bulgaria will respect her. Good for Bulgaria for taking this victim into safety.

If Bulgaria needed any assistance the victim can seek refuge in our ETC (Emergency Transit Centre), if she so chooses to and if Bulgaria and its people are happy with that. If not the victim is safe in Bulgaria.

Romania can provide this victim the support if she chooses to accept. Otherwise Bulgaria is capable and can manage this situation themselves.

Well done to the Bulgarians. Bulgaria should be more tough with Macedonia/FYROM.

Otherwise Bulgaria is doing a good job.

What do you make of the Bulgarian Formula 1-gate involving the Abu Dhabi company EABG?
It demonstrates the total incompetence of the Bulgarian state administration.

It is a plot on part of certain people trying to extort money from the Abu Dhabi company.

It is a attempt to establish a Formula 1 facility with foreign money in order to serve the interests of certain circles in Bulgaria.

It is a genuine attempt to find a proper foreign investor for a Formula 1 facility in Bulgaria which ran into trouble because of misunderstandings.
