There isn’t any connection between the new Muslim Democratic Union and Islamic separatism, Ali Yuzeirov, Chair of the party declared.
Yuzeirov spoke Sunday in a special interview for Darik radio, saying the new party was also not in any way connected to the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) of Ahmed Dogan.
Yuzeirov defined the Muslim-democratic idea in Bulgaria as freedom of choice and stated the dismantling of the so-called Monument of the Unknown Turkish Soldier was illegal.
In the mean time, his brother Yuzeir Yuzeirov issued a declaration regarding the taking down of the monument by Bulgarian authorities in which he claims the Bulgarian State has violated the Constitution principle of the sanctity of private property.
Yuzeir Yuzeirov states the monument has been built in his own yard and was his own property that could not be qualified as an official culture monument or military monument thus it did not fall under the legally regulated regime for such monuments.
Yuzeirov further denies ever naming the figure in his yard Monument of the Unknown Turkish Soldier, adding the problem was not the dismantling but the illegal way it was conducted.
Yuzeirov reminds he declined to appeal the decision to take the figure down.
“The Republic of Bulgaria is a democratic country, but what happened in my yard is emblematic of the double standard that is applied in the country and the human rights violations committed here,” the declaration reads.
