The Bulgarian Parliament's Committee on Corruption and Conflict of Interests have started a procedure investigating Economy Minister, Traicho Traikov.
This has been announced Friday by the chair of the Anticorruption Committee, Yane Yanev.
“I will send a letter to Minister Traikov asking him to give explanation as quick as possible. The procedure for establishing the presence of a conflict of interests lasts 2 months. Meanwhile, it should become clear where and what position had Traikov taken in the last 12 months before being assigned as a minister, as well as whether his positions were executive or controlling”, Yanev said.
Another thing that the committee will check is whether the minister's actions involve orders concerning state or municipal property, and are connected with spending budget or non-budget money, including money from EU funds.
