A 6,8-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale has been registered off the southern coast of the island of Java, Indonesia late on Monday.

The epicenter was 263 km south of the main island, and there are no immediate reports of injury or damage, DPA reported citing the Indonesian Seismology Agency.

Indonesia has recently seen a series of jolts; on September 2, a 7,3-magnitude earthquake hit western Java killing over 70 people.
