The "Black Sea" highway, most likely, will be considered an extension to the "Trakya" highway in southern Bulgaria, something that will allow the use of EU funds to build it.

The information was reported by the Minister of Regional Development, Rosen Plevneliev.

Plevneliev explained that his Ministry was doing everything possible to not concession the "Black Sea" highway and instead build it with financing from the European funds.

The Minister said that the final decision on the issue was expected no later then a month from now, adding that all current concession contracts in Bulgaria had deeply embedded problems and were not functioning.

"If the highway is build with EU money, its use will be free of charge, but the road won't be ready until 2014," Plevneliev explained.
