Following Bulgaria's Orthodox Church anathema shouts, Madonna fans here have been jokingly urged to stay away from her forthcoming Sticky and Sweet tour date by the party of Bulgarian men.
While Church of Bulgaria officials have accused the star of showing a "lack of respect" for church rituals, the men's party proposed, poking fun as usual, that the head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church takes the stage instead of the pop star.
"We say no to Madonna tour and suggest that Patriarch Maxim sings at Vassil Levksi stadium," the party's leader Rossen Markov said.
The concert, at Sofia's Vasil Levski Stadium, is expected to be attended by about 50,000 people.
Saturday is also a day of lent for Orthodox Christians marking the beheading of John the Baptist.
Madonna will arrive in Sofia following a concert in neighbouring Romania, on Wednesday.
Almost all tickets - costing up to BGN 150 (GBP 67) - have already been sold, organisers said.
It will be one of the largest gigs ever organised in Sofia.
