German Minister: A New Financial Crisis Poses a Threat to the World Economy
The world economy is facing the risk of a new financial crisis, warned German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble, quoted by the electronic edition Politico.
The American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) is welcoming its most international class ever for freshman orientation in the upcoming week.
The new class of AUBG, which is located in the southwest Bulgarian city of Blagoevgrad, includes 250 students from 32 different countries, the University has announced. 49 of these are transfer or exchange students.
66% of all students come from outside of Bulgaria. Brazil is the most distant country with a representative in the new AUBG class. Other countries of origin of the new students are the USA, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Albania, Macedonia, Moldova.
About 35% of the freshmen have won scholarships, and 70% are getting some sort of financial aid.
In order to help freshmen's families with the cost of education in the time of crisis, the AUBG has decided to waive one-fifth of the first year tuition cost.
The new academic year at AUBG is starting on August 31, 2009.
