Bulgaria's new GERB party cabinet is halting the diplomatic appointments made by its predecessor during the last days of its term.

The news was reported Tuesday by the TV channel bTV, citing the spokes person of the Foreign Ministry, Dragovest Goranov.

The Ministry of the winner of the July 5 general elections - the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party, is firm that former Members of the Parliament (MPs) from the parties in the previous government and diplomats close to them would not be traveling abroad to undertake new assignments.

These individuals include the former Member of the European Parliament from the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Atanas Paparizov, who was slated to become the Bulgarian Consul in New York, Boian Chukov, advisor of former Prime Minister and BSP leader, Sergey Stanishev, is not going to become Ambassador to Skopje. Former MP from the National Movement for Stability and Prosperity party of former Tsar and PM, Simeon Saxe-Coburg - Maria Angelieva, won't travel to Los Angelis, her colleague, Tedodora Drenska, is not going to work at the Embassy in Dublin and the MP from the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) party, Ivan Palchev, is not going to be appointed Ambassador.

Three people, however, appointed by the former cabinet are keeping their posts: the former Deputy Foreign Minister from DPS, Radion Popov, will be Bulgaria's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Lyubomir Todorov, former spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, is the new ambassador to Japan, while Krassimir Tulechki has been appointed Ambassador to Kosovo..
