Illegal sales of over 50 tons of produce have been discovered in just for days by Bulgaria's National Revenue Agency.
The NRA has conducted checkups of some of Sofia's biggest markets between August 11 and 14 where numerous violations and sales without documentation were found.
After the checkups, the merchants have declared profits of over BGN 500,000 more compared to the week before the checkups began.
Starting Monday NRA begins constant monitoring of the merchants that were found to sell produce illegally. The monitoring is being conducted by the all-time presence of a NRA agent during the entire time the markets are opened for business over a period that will last weeks and even months in some cases.
Also this week, NRA along with the Labor Inspectorate begins mass checkups for violations in the insurance laws. Employers will be asked to provide proof that their workers are insured based on real salaries and of payment of the required insurance contributions.
