The parties in the so-called right-wing Blue Coalition will nominate their own candidate for Mayor of Sofia at the upcoming partial elections.
The information was reported by the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) Monday, citing Vili Lilkov from the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party, which is a member of the Blue Coalition.
The partial local elections are scheduled for November 15. Sofia residents are to elect their new mayor then, after the informal leader of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party and Mayor of Sofia, Boyko Borisov, became the Prime Minister of Bulgaria.
Lilkov further informed the decision to nominate one candidate to represent the Coalition or for DSB and the other founding member - the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) to nominate each their own representative was still pending.
"Sofia is the city where the "Blues" have the strongest support, so it will be treason for them and the Sofia residents not to propose an alternative, and what is even more important, our own program to solve the problems of the capital. Sofia is a city that has not been developing in any way in the last years," Lilkov said.
