Bulgaria will take five urgent measures to fight the illegal import of vegetable and fruits from Macedonia and Greece.
This has been announced Monday by the Bulgarian Deputy PM and Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov, while he was in the Southern Petrich municipality where he pet with farmers from the region.
"In three days I will send to the Border Crossing Points Kulata and Zlatarevo two mobile groups, which will result in a total of four. In the new mobile groups there will be representatives of the National Revenue Agency (NAP), and experts of the Agriculture Ministry, besides the customs inspector and border policemen. In hours we will send Experts from NAP to inspect the wholesale markets for any irregularities, because we have information that many import companies are phantoms, and they present forged documentation to the customs, instead of invoices", Djankov explained.
In Djankov's words, he will personally check the work of the Kulata Customs in the end of this week to see if his orders are being followed strictly.
He promised to contact his Macedonian counterpart to compare the prices of the fruits and vegetables, because there are ill practices to be offered at very low prices.
