Three bodies have been found after a small airplane and a helicopter collided over the Hudson River in New York City on Saturday.
The crash happened after a low flying plane Piper Saratoga hit the tail of a tourist helicopter owned by the company Liberty Tours.
The helicopter crashed in the Hudson River near Manhattan before thousands of witnesses. Parts of both aircraft fell on the side of the state of New Jersey nearly hitting the driving cars.
The New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has announced that there were no survivors, and that all nine people on board of the two aircraft had died. There were five Italian tourists and a pilot in the helicopter, and a pilot and two passengers in the Piper Saratoga plane, one of whom was a child, BTA reported.
The airplane Piper PA-32 was flying to Ocean City, whereas the tourist helicopter, Eurocopter AS-350, took off shortly before the collision from Manhattan. The crash occurred in a busy air corridor above the Hudson River.
