A hoax bomb scare caused part of the Bulgarian state National Security Agency (DANS) headquarters to be evacuated Tuesday.

The scare came on the final working day of DANS Director Petko Sertov who had to cancel his final meeting with DANS employees.

The Interior Ministry received a bomb warning at 7:50 Tuesday morning and immediately sent police and bomb squads to the scene, DANS spokesperson Zoya Dimitrova stated, cited by Darik Radio.

After a thorough search of the premises the bomb squad found no suspicious packages, but DANS employees who were evacuated will not return to work for 24 hours.

Dimitrova did not comment when asked if the bomb scare was related to Sertov's last day at work. Sertov handed in his resignation last Friday to PM Boyko Borisov, who accepted it on Monday and nominated Tsvetlin Yovchev to replace him.
