Iraq's former Deputy Prime Minister, Tariq Aziz, was sentenced Sunday to 7 years in jail over the forcible resettlement of members of the Kurdish minority.

In March 2009, the 73-year-old Aziz was sentenced to 15 years in jail over the killing of dozens of traders who broke the state controlled prices in 1992. His sentences will be combined to make a total of 22 years.

Before that Aziz was acquitted on charges of participating in the murder and resettlement of Iraq Shiites in 1999.

Aziz surrendered to the US troops in 2003 about two weeks after Saddam Hussein's government had been deposed.
