The Sofia Appellate Court (SAC) exonerated Wednesday Maria Murgina, former head of the National Revenue Agency (NRA), of malfeasance in office.

The arrested former chief of Bulgaria's Revenue Agency, Maria Murgina, bought an apartment worth BGN 520 000 earlier in 2009.
It was reported Tuesday that along with the apartment and garage in Sofia, Murgina also has bank deposits worth BGN 64 000, Darik Radio reported.
It was also announced that the current chief of Bulgaria's Revenue Agency, Krasimir Stefanov , bought an apartment last year in Harmanli for BGN 32 000, he is also paying a mortgage of BGN 35 000 and has another BGN 15 000 of credit.
The case was against Mrgina was launched in February after the State Agency for National Security (DANS) stripped Murgina of her right to access classified information and amidst mounting accusations of huge organized draining of Value Added Tax (VAT) and a political cover-up.
