The Bulgarian Emergency Situations Deputy Minister, Alexander Filipov, has been arrested Monday before noon, over vote buying accusation.

The information about the detention was announced by the Sofia city prosecutor, Nikolay Kokinov.

Several other people, who are not working at the Ministry, have been arrested as part of the the same group dealing with vote trade. Together with Kokinov, they will all be detained for 72 hours.

The Deputy City Prosecutor, Galina Toneva, explained that the case was concerning vote trading, misappropriation of European and Bulgarian funds.

Filipov has been investigated for a long time before the arrest, Kokinov said.

Filipov's office is currently being thoroughly searched by the police.

The NMSP party claimed that Alexander Filipov was not included in their Parliament Elections ballots.
