Over the night five new cases of the swine flu virus have been registered in Serbia, after Romania confirmed the 23th case of the virus Saturday.

The five new cases of the H1N1 virus infection were confirmed by an epidemiologist of the Belgrade City Institute of Public Health, Predrag Kon.

In four cases the infected people came from abroad, while one person was infected in Serbia through contact with an infected person, Press Online reported.

Among the infected is a girl who arrived from Canada. Another serious case has been confirmed in Nis, and an entire family has been reported with the virus in Novi Sad, Kon said.

He stressed that the search for other individual cases will continue.

So far, a total of ten people have been registered as infected in Serbia.
