Two Bulgarian nationals were arrested by the Coast Guard in the Greek city of Thessaloniki Sunday night.
The two men carried arms and explosives that, according to the Greek authorities, they intended to sell to organized crime groups or terrorists, the Bulgarian National Radio reported.
The two Bulgarians offered a undercover officer four guns with silencers, a AK-47 machine gun, 1,4 kg of TNT, and 5,4 kg of ammonia nitrate, which is used both as a fertilizer and a substance for handmade bombs. The police also discovered a small quantity of cocaine.
According to the Greek authorities, the Bulgarians intended to sell their arsenal to a local organized crime group. However, they were worried by evidence suggesting that a Greek terrorist organization might have also been among the potential buyers.
