Bulgaria: Iran Protests US Involvement in Its Internal Affairs Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (C) returning from a visit to Russia to Tehran, Iran, on 16 June 2009.

Iran's Foreign Ministry has handed a note to the Switzerland Ambassador in Tehran protesting against interference with its internal affairs on part of the USA.

The news has been reported by the Iranian state television, which is cited by the BGNES news agency. According to the report, the protest note against US involvement in Iran has come after statements by high-ranking American representatives.

The protest note was handed to the Swiss Ambassador since Iran and the USA have no diplomatic relations.

US President Barack Obama declared Tuesday his concern with the developments in Iran after the June 12 general elections in which incumbent Ahmadinejad defeated his rival Moussavi.

The announcement of the results has been followed by violent street protests in which several people have been killed.

However, Obama has underscored that the decision was up to the Iranians, and that it would not be productive for the USA to intervene in Iran's internal affairs.
