7 Hostage Bodies Found in Yemen: 7 Hostage Bodies Found in Yemen

Seven of the foreign hostages abducted in Yemen Friday, including at least one child, have been found dead, BBC reports citing local officials.

Nine foreigners, three of them children, were kidnapped while on a picnic on Friday in the in the northern Sa'dah region.

The group included a German doctor, his wife and three children, and also a male British engineer and a female South Korean teacher. The adult captives had been part of an international organization and were working in a hospital in the region.

Yemeni officials informed Monday that the hostages' bodies had been found dumped in the streets of Shukwan, a town in the province of Saada, near the border with Saudi Arabia.

Local reports say all nine have been killed, but the deaths have not been confirmed by officials in Berlin, London and Seoul.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the kidnappings, but the abductors are believed to be Shia rebels, members of the Huthi Zaidi group which has been fighting the government for the last five years.
