Three Ruse municipality councilors have been arrested after being allegedly caught taking bribes, local police confirmed.

Todor Petrov, Nikolay Stanchev and Viktor Epshtain were arrested on Thursday after receiving part of a bribe that the police had been informed about.

The payment was made for permission to build a property in the Zdravets quarter of Ruse. Petrov and Stanchev asked for BGN 30 000 to give planning permission and were arrested when BGN 15 000 was delivered to them.

At the moment of the arrest it also became clear that Ruse businessman Viktor Epshtain was also involved. The three men have been taken away for questioning and will be held for 72 hours.
