The unemployment rate in Bulgaria reached 7,02% in April 2009, compared to 6,88% in March the same year.
The announcement was made Tuesday by Bulgaria's Social Minister, Emiliya Maslarova, during the opening of the a national conference on "Applying a National Pathway to Flexicurity" in Sofia.
Nearly 40 000 people registered in the labor bureaus in April, while 36 000 others found jobs.
For the same period, the vacant positions offered by the labor bureaus increased by 11,1% month-on-month. Currently there are 8 600 free positions.
"We expect the unemployment rate to remain around 7% over the next few months", Maslarova said.
Tourism and agriculture are the main field where new employees are needed in the upcoming season, she added.
