Bulgaria's only full-fledged American football team, "Team Sofia", has won 20:12 over Romania's "Bucharest Warriors".
Thus, the friendly match played in the Romanian capital Sunday was the first victory for "Team Sofia" in a formal game.
The Bulgarians playing in solid black jerseys and pants scored a touchdown shortly after the start of the game, and by the end of the first half had a 0:12 lead over the Romanian "Warriors".
The second half of the game was especially dynamic, with the Romanians scoring two touchdowns but Team Sofia scored a touchdown as well, and managed to keep their lead of 12:20 for the last three minutes of the game.
Team Sofia is the only Bulgarian "American football" team with full lay-out. It conducts its drills at the Akademik Stadium in Sofia.
After winning its first official international American football game in Bucharest, Team Sofia has received invitation to play against teams in Serbia and Turkey, and is also intending to take part in the Balkan American Football Championship, which is expected to start in 2010.
