Somalia Pirates Vow to Kill US, French Sailors: Somali Pirates Vow to Kill US, French Sailors

Two pirates in Somalia vowed revenge Monday, after the US military killed three pirates and freed a US ship captain who had been held hostage for several days, CNN reported.

The pirates told a Somali journalist that they were angered by the US action, as well as a French raid Friday that killed two pirates and one hostage and freed four hostages.

"We have decided to kill US and French sailors if they happen to be among our future hostages," said Abdullahi Ahmed, a member of a pirate group based at Harardhere, a coastal town in central Somalia.

Members of the U.S. Navy shot and killed three pirates who had been holding Capt. Richard Phillips hostage in a lifeboat on Sunday evening, a military official said.

The pirates seized Phillips after a failed attempt to hijack his ship, the Maersk Alabama.

These douchebags didn't learn their lesson. The Navy Seals should be let loose in that swamp and clean out the cockroaches once and for all. Bomb their cities, I say! It can't be that difficult to find their speedboats and installations along the coast and just blow them out of the water.

The pirates have declared war... let's hope that it's war they get!!

Provided:

~We focus less on chasing boats at sea and instead attack their pillars--the cities from which they're based out of. This was what the US did during the Barbary Wars (hence the line "to the Shores of Tripoli" in the US Marines' Hymn), and that led pirates in the Mediterranean Sea to leave US ships alone (but they continued to harass ships from other lands). Similar measures were done in Indonesia as shown in this and related links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redress_Against_Sumatran_Raiders

~We don't try to psychoanalyze the pirates and try to find what sort of conditions turned them into savages. We have to stop them regardless of the motives (and not every poor place turns to piracy).

~Although not popular, using more military force and less negotiation will become necessary. Even Obama has authorized the use of force against pirates in at least one instance.

Nellie:

The German news has an item on it that the head of the pirate group has said that they're going to be revenged, and added that "each country will be treated as they treat us".

Great! That means all we have to do is steam into their harbors and blow their boats out of the water. If they can rebuld their "navy" with any speed, it's time to look into who's financing them.

Fair's fair, right? We capture their boats and hold them hostage. Simple.

Also on the news is a report that a US Congressman visiting Somalia had his plane attacked as he was departing. I wonder what the fool was doing there in the first place.

I've always liked this one:

Samson used the jawbone of an ass to stop a war. Nowadays, that's starts them.

It's been war for quite a while. It just takes politicians longer to realise it than normal people.

All you hear out of politicians is, "we need more talks".

What is the most important conclusion from the Sofia Mayor elections on November 15, 2009?
That the ruling party GERB of PM Borisov continues to be hugely popular, whereas the Socialists are pretty much out.

That the decline of the Socialist Party has stopped whereas the ruling party GERB has failed to attract the expected very high number of voters.

That the Sofia residents are either completely disillusioned with politics, or care little about who is Mayor.

That the record-high jackpot of the Bulgarian State Lottery "Toto" generated much greater interest than the Mayor elections.
