The newest Bulgarian left-wing party held Saturday its Constituent Congress.

538 delegates of the new "Bulgarian Left Wing" (BLW) party gathered together to elect the party's leadership and discuss its code and policies.

The delegates unanimously elected the former Member of the Parliament from the ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Ivan Genov, as Chair of the Constituent Congress while the party's founder, Iliya Bozhinov, was elected Chair of the Mandate Committee.

Bozhinov said BLW's code had some similarities with the one of BSP, but would include many different principles as well.

The party stands for new social and economic policies, adequate anti-crisis measures, end of organized crime, oligarchy, mafia, corruption and shady politics.

Some of BLW goals include increase of minimum wages and pensions by 50%, changes in the retirement policies, in Bulgaria's farming policy, budget financing of the healthcare system, free healthcare and education, revocation of the restitution of properties of former Tsar Simeon Saxe-Coburg, elimination of the flat tax, rejection of foreign military bases and foreign military presence in the country.
