Taliban Leader Claims Responsibility for New York Shooting

World | April 4, 2009, Saturday // 11:20

Pakistani Taliban leader, Baituallah Mehsud, has stated he had ordered Friday's death rampage in the city of Binghamton, New York State.

"I accept responsibility. They were my men. I gave them orders in reaction to US attacks," Mehsud has stated by telephone from an undisclosed location, BGNES reported.

Mehsud claims one Pakistani and another unidentified man carried out the shooting in the American Civic Association building in Binghamton, which left 14 people dead including the suspected gunman.

According to the Taliban leader's statement, such attacks would continue in revenge to US military efforts in Afghanistan, and Israeli brutalities in Palestine.

Other than Mehsud's statement, there is no evidence whatsoever so far that the Binghamton shooting has anything to do with the Taliban or any other terrorist organizations.
