For the first time ever a live donkey is set to run for Member of Parliament in Bulgaria's Black Sea city of Varna.

The ambitious creature is a candidate for the unofficial national party "Political Prostitute - Forza Bulgaria".

The donkey's candidature was put forward by the leader of the Party for Bulgarian men Rosen Markov. He said that the campaign motto for his animal colleague's fight for votes will be "donkey MP - 240 is not enough".

The new party will not use national subsidies as it will be funded by a variety of "everything for BGN 1" shops, announced Markov.

Markov stated that he has already informed the prosecutor's office that he will give BGN 1 to everyone who votes for his nominee.
