19-year-old Vladislav Vladimirov, accused of the vicious murder of his younger friend, is going to remain behind bars.

The decision was made by the Sofia Appellate Court Thursday, reaffirming the earlier one, made by the Pernik Regional Court.

The defendant's lawyer asked the measure to be changed to house arrest basing it on the argument that his client has a clean criminal record. The attorney claimed the suspect's parents did not know that a crime has been committed in their house while the victim had regularly abused his older friend when they went out together.

The magistrates stated that they did not think the alleged killer could flee, but decided to keep him behind bars due to the vicious nature of the crime and the strong evidence against Vladimirov.

Vladislav Vladimirov was been taken into custody by police in Pernik on March 9, for, allegedly murdering and cutting up the body of his 15-year-old friend, Alberto Yordanov.

The murder occurred in Vladimirov's house after the two youngsters had been at a birthday party together on Sunday night. The dismembered body was discovered in a concrete shaft above the house.

Vladimirov himself informed the police of the murder, telling them how and why he had killed Yordanov as well as divulging the place where he had hidden the body.

Vladimirov used an axe to kill his victim and also to dismember his body. He also tried to burn Yordanov's corpse. As an explanation for the crime Vladimirov stated that his friend had assaulted him and also had continually tormented him.
