Arab Foundations Fund Islamic Fundamentalism in Bulgaria – Report
Foundations from Arab and other Muslim states have been funding radical Islamist activities in Bulgaria for many years.
This was declared Tuesday by the political secretary of the rightist Democrats for Strong Bulgaria party, Petar Nikolov, in an interview for Darik Radio.
Nikolov pointed out that the support by foreign foundations for radical Islam and Islamic fundamentalism in Bulgaria is also backed by the Head Mufti’s Office, and, partly in some regions, by local activists of the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms party (DPS), which is currently part of Bulgaria’s ruling three-way coalition.
Nikolov’s statements come after last week the leader of the Order, Law, Justice party, MP Yane Yanev presented information about radical Islamism among Bulgarian Muslim villages in Southwest Bulgaria.
As a follow-up to these revelations, Bulgaria’s State National Security Agency (DANS) interrogated Monday the Mayor of the Garmen Municipality, Ahmed Bashev, and a local school teacher of Islam, Murad Boshnak, over the alleged promotion of radical Islamism.
According to Nikolov, the infiltration of radical Islamism was a problem whose countering required the permanent efforts of the Bulgarian state instead of just isolated campaigns over issues raised by political figures.
“Everything in Bulgaria is a matter of just two weeks, in which a lot of people speak hysterically and incompetently, and everyone is trying to draw public attention to themselves, and then the issue is forgotten. It’s the same with the Islamic fundamentalism, and the radical Islam in Bulgaria”, Dimitrov declared.

Are you aware of the fact that Saudis were converting blacks in the US in the 70ies and 80ies? Why do you think there are so many black Muslims in the US? They were normal black Christians until the Saudis started bribing them and converting them to Islam. It is not difficult to influence stupid, ignorant people. I have seen them work in the US and I don't put it past them to be working on the Bulgarian dumb, ignorant villagers, especially those villagers who are Muslims already.
If there is evidence why nobody reports it in more details or says there is a credible intelligence report that confirms it?
Absolutely everything that went out so far as evidence is total BS - BG reporters went on the spot and saw girls wearing jeans and no scarfs and older women wearing "shalvari" but all say they dress as they wish. There is a local pub in every village. The "Saudi Arabia" guy Murat says he doesnt speak any other language than Bulgarian and never set a foot in Saudi Arabia.
all we have so far are words of BG politicians claiming something and words of local people who seem surprised by such claims because they didnt see anything of the allegations happening where they live.
"There is not a single piece of evidence, not a single affirmation by DANS or CIA or Interpol or anyone else of the existence of credible evidence backing such statements so it is kind of strange that this article is named report - it is just putting another gossip talk on the site."
How do you know there is no evidence? Just because they did not make it public information and reported it to you does not mean there is no evidence. I want to know why the Bulgarian minister of education is asleep at the wheel and allowing it to happen?
"Foundations from Arab and other Muslim states have been funding radical Islamist activities in Bulgaria for many years."
Which foundations, when, where, how much money?
