Overnight snow in Bulgaria caused a large amount of disruption on roads across the country Tuesday, with 16 serious accidents and 23 people injured according to the Bulgarian traffic police.
The National Road Infrastructure Agency stated that no roads are closed in the country due to the weather but many of the country's mountain passes are dangerous due to blizzard conditions and falling rocks.
A long traffic jam formed along the road between Pernik and Sofia. It is expected that the traffic will get back to normal by the afternoon as the snow has now stopped in the Eastern part of Bulgaria, Darik Radio reported.
Trucks have been banned from traveling with trailers and semi-trailers through the mountain passes of Shipka and Petrohan and along the Batak-Dospat road.
