Lazar Kolev, a 29-year-old prisoner from Pazardzhik, has been accused of murdering the Belneyski sisters who were found dead near the town of Peshtera in February 2006, in a crime that shocked Bulgaria, Darik Radio reported Wednesday.
Pazardzhik District Attorney, Ivan Daskalov, announced that Kolev has been accused of the sisters murder and will appear in court on Friday to face charges of Murder with evil intent.
On 17 February Daskalov had announced that concrete evidence had been found in the search for the murderer of the Belneyski sisters.
Kolev's attorney Marin Markovski stated that his client has been under investigation for the last month while in the Pazardzhik prison for a minor offence. Kolev claims that he has never met the sisters and is completely innocent, Markovski added.
Sisters Rositsa (18) and Kristina (15) Belneyska went missing in January 2006, after leaving a disco bar in the town of Pazardzhik.
