The missiles can travel about 3 000 kilometers, the report informs adding that the North had recently armed its naval forces, reinforcing submarines and developing new torpedoes, and had also increased its special forces training after reviewing US military tactics in Iraq and Afghanistan.
US and South Korean officials have said that North Korea appeared to plan testing its long-range missile, the Taepodong-2. The missile is thought to have a range of about 6 700 kilometers, which, if true, could give it the capability of striking the states of Alaska or Hawaii.
