The UK authorities have charged a 27-year-old man, who threw a shoe at China's Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, with committing a public order offense. The incident happened when Wen was giving a speech at Cambridge University on Monday.

A spokeswoman for the UK police has announced that the trial against the show-thrower would be taking place on February 10 in Cambridge.

The young human rights activist's shoe missed the Chinese PM Wen landing about a meter away from him. The young man was shouting "how can the university prostrate itself with this dictator?" during the assault.

Cambridge's shoe-throwing incident bore a striking resemblance to the shoe attack on former US President George W Bush during a press conference in Baghdad in December 2008 carried out by an Iraqi journalist.

Unlike Bush's case, however, the PM of the People's Republic of China Web did not have to duck in order to preserve himself from being hit as the distance in the Cambridge hall was greater, and the only shoe missile was not nearly as close.
