Five rescue teams from Bulgaria's mountain resort of Bansko have restarted Thursday morning the search for the 28-year-old snowboarder from Sofia, Viktor Gardev, who was buried by an avalanche on Wednesday.
The officer on duty in Bulgaria's Mountain Rescue Service, Ivan Dragoshinov, has expressed hopes that Gardev would be discovered alive, the BGNES news agency reported.
Dragoshinov underscored that the weather conditions were very unfavorable, and that the forty rescuers and five dogs searching for the snowboarder were facing grave danger by avalanches themselves.
The rescuers have been trying to detect the battery of the missing man's mobile phone but to no avail.
Gardev was buried by an avalanche in the Bunderishka Polyana area on Wednesday as he was descending down a slope with a friend, who was lucky to manage to stay out of the avalanche.
