The Russian energy monopoly "Gazprom is yet to receive confirmation that the Ukraine has signed the agreement for international monitoring of the transit of Russian gas, the Russian Information agency ITAR-TASS reported.

The agency cites the "Gazprom" press center as stating that they have not even received a faxed copy of the agreement.

"Our firm position is that the agreement for international monitoring of the transit of Russian gas must be signed exactly as it was when the Russian side signed and the Czech side endorsed it," the "Gazprom" press release states.

In the mean time, BBC announced that EU observers were already on their way to natural gas pumping stations around Ukraine to monitor the flow of Russian gas through the country.
